Vin Diesel in talks for "The Last Witch Hunter"

LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.com) - Lionsgate-Summit is in negotiations with Vin Diesel to star in 'The Last Witch Hunter,' an individual familiar with the talks told TheWrap.

Emmett/Furla Films is attached to produce the film with Breck Eisner ('The Crazies') directing.

Cory Goodman wrote the story, which follows one of the last remaining witch hunters, who is charged with discouraging a group of witches and warlocks from reproducing.

When Summit purchased Goodman's pitch in 2010, 'Wanted' director Timur Bekmambetov was attached to direct and produce the film, with Adam Goldworm ('Lore' 'Masters of Horror') executive producing. Goldworm remains the executive producer.

Lionsgate and its Grindstone Entertainment Group have a ten-picture deal with Emmett/Furla, which was renewed this summer.

The joint venture has lead to a number of films, including 'Set Up' with Bruce Willis, the crime drama 'Freelancers' with Robert DeNiro, 'Fire With Fire,' and 'The Frozen Ground.'

The next film slated for release through the partnership is 'Empire State' with Dwayne ('The Rock') Johnson. Vin Diesel upcoming films include 'The Fast and The Furious 6' and an untitled 'Chronicles of Riddick' sequel.
